It’s May time, it’s play time! Though it’s not May as of yet, the sun is becoming more tolerant of the world as it decides to show its face to us warmth-deprived earthlings more often. Burberry has brought to us with its Spring/Summer 2013 collection a myriad of vibrant metallic to celebrate the onset of sunshine and flowers.
Bright Metallic Trench Coat in Dark Claret from Burberry, $3,195.00
Look at it. Isn’t it perfect? If you’ve got the money to splurge on this gorgeous classic Burberry trench with a twist, good on you! If you’re on a city-campus (think New York City or LA), this’ll be sure to garner some turned heads when you strut down 5th Avenue on the weekend. For those of us on a more diminished budget, here are some ways to get in that metallic and satin-sheen without indebting yourself to student loans forever.
1) Ease Into It

The first place I turn to for edgier, somewhat-more-difficult-to-pull-off-but-super-rad clothes is Urban Outfitters. Lo and behold, I present to you these jeans. They’re super stretchy and are made of substantial jean material (no see-through problems with cheaper-quality leggings) that define Levi’s, and are not in a ridiculously bright metallic shade as actual gold foil. Baby steps, my friends, baby steps.

Another baby step into the world of metallic is this skirt from ASOS, featuring a cotton and metallic fiber mix that simply enhances a heather gray into something a little more daring. Miniskirts usually don’t draw much attention either because of its mini nature, so it’s perfect for a subtle foot-in-the-door statement.
